Four-day sports weekend: Day 2, Friday, Oct. 26th. Lincoln North Star vs. Creighton Prep, Class A playoffs, Omaha, NE - A little less cold and windy than the game in Malcolm. The game was held at Omaha Northwest’s stadium, which has to be one of the nicest (and brightest) in the state. The press box was tiny, and instead of uploading photos at halftime, I waited until the game was over. The school was supposed to give me their Wi-Fi info, and of course they didn’t even though I called them TWICE to confirm it. My backup plan was uploading at a McDonald’s a few blocks from the school. I had a snack wrap. It was the first time I had McDonald’s in at least two years. North Star, down by 6, marched down the field with about four minutes to go. They orchestrated a beautiful drive and burned the clock only to fumble once they got into the red zone. Prep won the game, effectively knocking out Lincoln’s second-best hope for a state champion. Only Lincoln Southeast remains.
