Four day sports weekend: Day 4, Sunday, Oct. 28th. Penn State vs. Nebraska, NCAA Women’s Volleyball regular season, Lincoln, NE. - By far the most exciting and entertaining game of the week. The Husker volleyball team did something they never do on Friday: They lost at home. To put things into perspective for you, the last time the Nebraska volleyball team lost at home was 2009. I was still in college. Losing to Ohio State on Friday was one thing, but the possibility of the team dropping two consecutive home losses was seemed unthinkable. But as fate would have it, Penn State was its next opponent. Penn State’s national rank: #1. The Huskers dropped the first set hard, harder than any set I’ve seen them drop. They fought back in the second set and won. They dropped the third set. The Colosseum’s moment died. It was brought back in the fourth set when Nebraska squeaked by with a narrow win. With the crowd back in it, they fed off the energy and put Penn State away. The place went wild. Oh, and by the way, this is the second time Nebraska has knocked off the No. 1 team in the country at home this season.
